Not in an Apartment, in the town, but a different region than the market we hit on our first weekend in France. This was for Treasures of Provence, which came AFTER my 9a Business of Fashion Class. Actually, that's...all to say about that class. We brought in a garment each and Christopher helped us to work out how much the manufacturing and materials cost to make it so we could see how much we paid. Lot of good deals. Some not so good. My $20 vintage velvet blazer (which is looking like it needs a good touch-up) was a steal as the cost to MAKE it was around $44, estimating the retail price to be around $210. Fantastic.
So, for the Treasures class, we went to the Museum of History and Archaeology. On the way, I found this creepy Monkey Face on the side of the Cathedral housing the bones of St. Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary.
I think Adam might like him. Maybe? Anyway, the museum was cool, lots of good stuff, but nothing exceptional to post, so here are some pretty flowers that I liked. Nothing special, just on the road walking back to the vans.
Back in town, French class, dinner, and some last-minute touching-up for tomorrows' color project due date.
Day 21: Finally, work getting done [Wednesday]
Current Trends and Forecasting again, and we're showing Christopher our pretty much finished color projects. He liked all of my final colors, but wanted some different visuals for two of the six layouts. Not a problem, but he wants us to leave them alone for two weeks and work on the next assignment: Magazines. Or, more accurately, making a miniature of the magazines we're assigned. I'm in the group of four making i-D, and the other four students are making GQ. We divvied things up, and....yeah, that's about it. We started working on our separate sections. Class was out at 16:00, and French class was at 17:00. Dinner. Idling withOUT Dominique, Brandon, Melissa, and Nick, who left for SIX DAYS driving along the coast of Italy. I'm so friggin' jealous because I wasn't able to go with them due to our different class schedules.
I also realized I'll be 21 in five days. Whoa.
Day 22: Sleep Shit [Thursday]
Uh oh, twenty minutes late for class. Apparently, Michael woke up "late" for class at 8:40 and ran to get breakfast and then straight to class. Didn't cross his mind to come get me when I didn't show up I guess? In I walk at 9:25a or so, so that was awesome. After class, I explained my sleep problems to Christopher and how I'm doing all I can here in Lacoste, but my classes are in the morning and I didn't get to pick them, so....sorry. He seemed fairly understanding, so hopefully it won't happen again, but in case it does, he at least knows what's up now. I talked to Michael too, and explained that YES I need the help, so hopefully he's on-board now too.
Treasures of Provence took us to Casaneuve and the studio of great local mosaicist Jean-Pierre. He was very interesting, and has a wealth of things from the past, both actual items and information. Here's one of his mosaics that I loved in-progress:
He loved the history in pieces, so authentic roman shards and coins are skillfully worked into his pieces, along with along with original roman techniques and ties to the people who created this medium. His house was really cool too, and the two houses he rents out for 500€ and 800€ a WEEK to tourists were gorgeous. Here's a lovely flower that had just bloomed all by itself over by a big altar outside in a field.
